Why it looks like this
Ayenda was built in the jungle, and not a single tree came down for it. Where a trunk stood, the floor was opened and the structure was routed around it — built with the trees rather than in their place.
That is the idea the whole place runs on: a symbiosis with what was already here, one that respects the environment and honours Balinese culture rather than clearing it away.
Built by Balinese and Indonesian hands.
All five within a few steps of each other, and of the weights.
Dry heat, timber-lined, right next to the cold.
Walk in on real snow. Sub-zero, not a chilled shower.
In the same room as the snow, so you go straight in.
Jetted warm water, set into the lawn beside the pool.
Open water under the palms, with the bridge across it.
